How to apply KT Tape: Full knee support
Knee pain can be caused by any number of issues, and could result in pain in the anterior or posterior part, medially or laterally, or even on the inside. Think of e.g. the typical runner’s knee or jumper’s knee. In general, the kneecap or patella could be moving incorrectly, or one or more meniscus may be torn, ruptured, or inflamed. There may be arthritis, plica, chondromalacia, or any number of issues with the bones that constitute the knee. The beauty of the application of knee tape is the breadth of conditions it covers, with its relatively simple result balancing the muscles’ effect on the knee and relieving pressure on the kneecap and its tendon.
Different causes of knee pain
Knee issues arise from equally as many causes and aren’t always easy to prevent. Muscle imbalances, poor running form, misaligned hips or poor posture, poor nutrition, overtraining, compensation for another injury, hyperextension, arthritis, and blunt trauma to ligaments are just a few of the most common causes of knee pain. Even a lesser obvious cause such as heavy body weight could be the culprit. Common effective treatments among all of these conditions include increasing circulation, providing support, reducing pressure, and maintaining range of motion. A lot of makeshift solutions exist, such as the application of an icepack or a bag of frozen peas, and these will only reduce the knee pain to some extent.
If you suffer of knee problems to a greater extent and high impacts, absorbing shocks or moving your knee hurts, then it’s highly suggested to improve the health of the knee joint by applying KT Tape. This is a great solution that still allows you to straighten and bend your knee and allows knee strengthening exercises while preventing further injury.
How KT Tape can improve your knee health
KT Tape serves all of these purposes without the downsides of bulky braces or complex wrapping. Common injuries such as runner’s knee or patella tendonitis, jumper’s knee, patella tracking, rheumatoid arthritis, meniscus tears, plica, patellofemoral pain syndrome, and general instability can all be best addressed by using the full knee support application*. With this application you will get support, pain relief, and normal body mechanics without restricting motion or circulation like some other treatments that work as a stabilizer.
Taping the knee with our (pre-cut) rigid KT Tape requires no expertise, unlike the McConnell technique or difficult methods of wrapping. Activating the kinesiology tape is as simple as making sure the adhesive side of the tape sits well on your skin, and you can have days of carefree range of motion and minimal discomfort for all types of knee pain!
